Merlin Explorer Collection

The Merlin Explorer Collection has been designed to complement the rise in accessible, do-it-all motorcycles, along with the increased desire to get out and travel thanks to nearly 18 months of COVID-19 lockdowns. Also behind the design – the rise of younger motorcyclists, with Instagram’s heritage scene rapidly growing and the build-up of motorcycling in popular culture encouraging more young people to get their licences. Explorer offers rugged styling, durability and protection while incorporating the signature Merlin styling using only the best materials and components, such as Halley Stevensons® waxed cotton, D3O® armour and Cordura®.

Merlin Drifter D3O® Explorer Jacket

Don’t be fooled by the Merlin Drifter jacket’s casual looks, this is a futureproof, sustainable and durable motorcycle jacket. The 100% organic Halley Stevensons® ripstop cotton outer receives a fluorocarbon-free water-repellent treatment, with weatherproofing further bolstered by the addition of a highly waterproof and breathable Humax membrane. Receiving an overall CE certification of Level ‘A’ and backed by D3O® armour fitted to the shoulders, elbows and back, Drifter is as protective as it is stylish. Available in green or black in sizes S-4XL.

Caring for your Drifter jacket

To care for your jacket, remove all armour from the shoulders, elbows and back and also any removable inner liners. Use a lint-free brush or cloth to really get into any especially dirty areas, then hand-wash the jacket with a mild or diluted detergent in lukewarm water. Merlin Sayan D3O® Laminated Jacket
As part of the growing laminate range within the Explorer Collection, Sayan arrives as a timeless classic with leather overlays to the shoulders and elbows in a classic British four-pocket style. Designed and tested with adventure in mind, this is a lightweight, durable and versatile option for those looking to go that bit further. Five-piece D3O® is pre-fitted to the garment with pockets for additional chest protectors. Sayan is available in three colour options – black, khaki or olive green.

Sustainable and stylish, the Merlin Outlaw D3O® Smock is a different take on the traditional motorcycle jacket. Making a move towards using more sustainable materials in garment construction, Outlaw is made from 100% organic Halley Stevensons® ripstop cotton with a fluorocarbon-free water-repellent finish. Merlin Tewkesbury Cotec Jacket
Taking its styling cues from a traditional high street fashion jacket, the Tewkesbury is constructed from the Merlin-exclusive waxed cotton Cotec – an 8oz lighter weight and more breathable wax produced by Halley Stevensons®. With D3O® armour pre-fitted to the shoulders and elbows and a pocket for an optional D3O® back protector, Tewkesbury is both protective and stylish. The fixed Reissa® waterproofing and double-layer storm flap under the central zip combines with a 70g thermal wadding for weatherproofing for an all-season riding jacket.

Caring for your Tewkesbury jacket
To care for your jacket, begin by lightly brushing off any dirt or soil, and use a cold damp cloth if necessary to wipe down the jacket. Clean it in this way regularly to maintain its appearance, but don’t be too harsh as the wax will be removed. You can re-wax the jacket with our Merlin Wax Cotton Tin when it loses its waxed finish and water begins to soak into the cotton rather than bead off.
